My students are highly motivated. Many of them are taking advanced courses while also committing to community service as well as extracurricular activities. As part of the Academy for Global Studies (affiliated with the International Studies Schools Network) my students must complete projects that are interdisciplinary in nature and showcase global and social awareness. This is a special program within the school at large and the students range from affluent to low income. Culturally, they are mostly Caucasian and Hispanic. Many of my students have learning disabilities such as dyslexia and ADHD, and my classroom includes mainstreamed special needs students on the autism spectrum.
