I'm a special education teacher with students who believe that their only hope is to be a farmer or nothing at all. They are the type of students who miss a week of school at a time because it's time to harvest a crop. They are good kids with limited prospects because farming is all that anyone in their family has ever known. They are capable of some amazing things, if only they could obtain a grasp of what lies beyond the borders of our tiny county. Our school is proud school with a strong history and great kids. We are located in North Carolina, nestled next to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Our kids are amazing, but only know one way of life, and the goal of our staff is to illuminate new pathways for them.
