As kindergarteners, my students are new to school and many of them are new to the country. We are a Title 1 school with very limited funding. They love coming to school and are not only learning to read and write for the first time, but are learning a new language on top of that! I am trying to create a warm, inviting, and welcoming place for them to call home 8 hours a day that can also help them develop their independence and become self-guided learners.
