I teach at a school with the majority of students on free and reduced lunch. Many of my students come from broken homes and several do not live with their parents. While many days my helpfulness is simply providing a breakfast snack or safe place to be, I also want to help my students to love learning. Most of these students are very active and learn in a variety of ways. I make it my goal every day to find at least three ways to engage students in my lessons. Sometimes this is connecting to their interests, sometimes this is moving around the room to solve problems, and sometimes it is just showing them something very cool and unusual. It is my hope that all my students will have the confidence and resources to explore and follow their imagination in my classroom.
