My students attend Tres Rios Elementary school in Tolleson, Arizona, a suburb outside of Phoenix, Arizona. The majority of students are Hispanic and come from lower income families. The students I teach receive free and reduced lunch. The students are very motivated and engaged in my classroom. They yearn to read a variety of texts and come to class enthusiastic to learn new material. Currently, their interests span from sharks, bees, and keeping up with the latest BoxCar and Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series book.
