Living in the middle of Utah, it can be hard for third graders to imagine life in Mexico, Spain, or another Spanish-speaking country. My third-graders are learning to speak Spanish, and speaking a language is about much more than words- it's about culture. Books are the best way for them to experience both! Books allow us to enter all kinds of new worlds, teaching us about different ways of life- and that is what they will do for my Spanish-learning students. My students need ample opportunities to learn about the culture that comes with the Spanish Language, which they will easily gain as they interact with a variety of books written by Spanish authors about authentic topics and experiences.
