My students use flexible seating during independent reading time and reading station time. Flexible seating allows students to choose a place and way to sit that helps them learn best. They might lay on the floor, sit in a comfortable chair, use a clipboard, or sit at a desk. Whatever works best for them! I already have several seating choices in my classroom, but would love to add some bean bag chairs to the rotation. My students love being able to choose their own place to sit in the classroom and enjoy not always having to sit in traditional desks. My students enjoy reading more when they are comfortable and like to have the ability to make their own choice about what is best for them.
