I am entering a classroom as a first-year teacher with students who have experienced instability through previous teachers leaving. I would love to build a classroom that reflects the needs and interests of my students. This will give them a safe and structured learning environment that will support them. The literature will help fill my bookshelves with books that were chosen with student interests in mind. Graphic novels encourage struggling readers to pick up more books. The math manipulatives will help students develop mathematical connections and fill gaps left by the pandemic. Flexible seating will encourage autonomy, independence, and responsibility.
