Each material on this project list was selected with a specific purpose in mind. As I build this classroom that the students and I will share, I am keeping their needs at the forefront of my mind.
I want fill our classroom with materials that will engage each and every child no matter what their learning style may be. To do this, I need materials such as book bins to not only organize an engaging classroom library, but also allow students to have their own personal selection of leveled and challenge books. I want to provide flexible seating through the use of wobble chairs meet the needs of students who struggle (as I do) to sit still on a carpet. A large part of the instructional day in my classroom will be spent in small groups during center time. The Early Math Instant Learning Centers set will provide students with engaging activities that can be self directed or teacher led. The magnetic base ten set, counters and mathlink cubes will also be incorporated into student driven math centers as well as whole group instruction. Additionally, the Listening Center will be part of daily literacy centers. I believe the materials selected will foster creativity among all students in a way that will benefit their minds and souls.
