Arts and crafts—aka, making—develop such skills as observing, visual thinking, and pattern recognition. They develop habits that include practicing, persevering, and trial-and-error problem-solving." (Carrie Barron, MD, The Creativity Cure: How to Build Happiness with Your Own Two Hands (S&S).). Providing my students with the otherwise unavailable materials like Osmo, Bloxel, Theta camera, cooperative games, and a maker space book will give them the opportunity to explore, create and tinker. My students will use the cooperative games to learn how to work together towards a common goal. Working with Osmo Coding will introduce them to the world of coding. The maker space book will help both myself and my students explore ideas of what to create and the types of materials that can be used. They will then be more prepared to use the Theta camera and Bloxel to make their own creations as well as to code in other programs. This will allow them to be truly immersed in their learning and introduce new areas of interest.
