When I decided to be a teacher, one of the first things I thought about was the school that I wanted to teach in. I had my eyes set on the elementary school that I attended when I was little. If you think about it, elementary school is the only school where you spent the most of your school years. Needless to say, when I became the science teacher in that exact elementary school, half of my career goals were accomplished. What was to come next would be the greatest challenge. I get to go to work everyday hoping that I get through to 350 students week after week with science concepts that they need to learn. A lot of the children in this community come from Chinese immigrant families, who often times do not have the funds to provide their children with experiences outside of NYC. Through my class and efforts to plan special excursions, I hope to push their boundaries to a whole other world.
