Developing a love of reading requires exposure to inspiring and talented authors who serve as mentor writers. The books written by Patricia Polacco, Chris Van Allsburg and Kate DiCamillo are a few that will feed into students' motivation for reading and even writing. With access to these books in our classroom, you will be giving students the chance to develop a relationship with the authors as true mentors to them. With your help, students will have access to books written by authors who will inspire & motivate them to become readers & writers. They will serve as a foundation to help readers build "who they are" as readers and will serve as a springboard to get students to develop what type of authors they enjoy listening to--something that they would not have been able to do without expose to strong and motivational mentor authors.
