I am requesting an instructional floor area rug for a music classroom. There are slightly over 600 students receiving Vocal/General Music Instruction. My students need free space for movement, playing instruments, and circle games without bumping into chairs. The use of floor seating is especially typical for Kindergarten through Second Grade. We have been supporting floor activities from a donation of 75 carpet squares from a local carpet business for the last two years. Although these squares have facilitated smooth transitions in the past, they fray easily and have been discarded because of wear and tear through constant use. Educational content specific carpeting will support our instructional time with the students by improving transitions for seating as they arrive and throughout transitions throughout music time.
