With this classroom set of Orff instruments, my students will be able to experience music-making, music literacy and collarboration in exciting new ways! Getting to use instruments to play the accompaniment to a song, instead of just singing with the piano or a recording? Yes, please! Collaborating with peers and using music literacy skills to create and perform a unique piece of music? Absolutely! Making the connection with what is on the music staff to where those notes are located, visualizing higher and lower sounds, enhancing hand-eye coordination, practicing concentration, teamwork and sharing the workload, not to mention whole brain development are all ways my students will benefit from these instruments. "When do we get to play instruments," is a question frequently asked by my students. And as much as I love adding triangles, shakers and tambourines to our some of our songs, those instruments do not offer the same kind of beauty and satisfaction in their performance as Orff instruments do.
