My students crave dynamic ways to develop their emerging literacy skills, such as using technology to listen to audiobooks or competitive games that give them the opportunity to practice their new skills. With 100% of the students at my school utilizing free lunch benefits, access to these materials at home and school will be incredibly influential in their literacy development. To fully engage student's developing literacy abilities, culturally representative literature and access to engaging technology and phonics focused games are crucial to student's development. The combination of literature that depicts individuals who come from similar backgrounds as my students, access to exciting technology, and group centric phonics games would add incredible value to our classroom community.
