Learners love to wiggle! In our classroom, we have many students who come to school excited and eager to learn. Often students in class have a hard focusing because they are asked to sit in hard chairs for long periods of time throughout the day. Research shows that when you are comfortable, you are more receptive to new information. This is true for students as well.
In our classroom we hope to use wobble stools at our small group table so that students are allowed to move around while they are working, without distracting others. The balance balls and wobble cushions are meant to be tools that can be utilized for students who have excessive energy to be able to work independently at their seats so that I can maintain my focus on the students that I am working with in my small group instruction. I believe that these tools would have an enormous impact on my student's learning abilities because of the opportunity that it gives incentive for hard work, even when they are full of energy.
