Students keep a bullet journal in school to create an organizational system that is specifically individualized to themselves. There is no right way to do journal; no specific method which is better than another. Students who prefer minimalist structures can keep it simple. Students who love art, color, and fun create a structure which works for them. There are those that follow no particular structure whatsoever, except the basic objectives assigned by the teacher such as a daily entry, a goal page or a book list. Traditional school planners have only one layout option. A bullet journal allows the student the flexibility to create whatever they need to succeed using color, templates, white out for the inevitable error, tape to organize sections and a good quality dotted style notebook to improve overall value to the student. When using bullet journals this year, my students have improved from the reluctant writer to writers who share their work online with peers, write in complete sentences and achieve academic and personal goals.
