In my classroom, I always seek out to build a culture that champions a growth mindset, academic rigor and equity among all students. My students are amazing, bringing such fun and energetic personalities into the classroom. We have moments of productive struggle and engage in fun activities, like Jeopardy and a math carnival. Natomas Middle School is the #6 most diverse public middle school in California, meaning my students come from many different socio-economic backgrounds. It's a beautiful thing to see so many different faces when I go to work everyday. As much as my students learn from me, I am learning about their cultures and backgrounds every day.
