Even though I haven't met them yet, according to the principal a third of the school is considered homeless. Students that are barely having their basic needs met might not have the opportunity to play with Legos at home. I know Legos are an important building block in the understanding of science and technology. I would like to give them the opportunity to use and explore with Legos. My goal is to give them some free time to explore and then I will give them challenges and tasks to build. I would also like to use the Legos for Math. Legos can be great manipulatives to teach fractions, area and perimeter. The Legos will be used concretely to topics that can be very abstract to students.
