I am the proud teacher of a K, 1, 2 self-contained, special education classroom. They are an intelligent, funny and creative group of kids. They are fascinated whenever I bring my laptop and project science clips or a piece of writing. They strive to be "like real authors" and create their own stories on the computer. And while I feel incredibly lucky to be teaching in such a warm and welcoming school environment, we are in an urban, in-need area. There are not enough resources to go around. Recently our state has adopted 21st Century Skills as an area in which our students should be proficient. How can they be proficient if there is no technology? My students are - to put it simply - amazing. They are appreciative of everything I can do for them. Unfortunately, with something of this magnitude, I cannot do it alone.
