Hello! My name is Shannon Whitney and I am a reading coach and English Language Learning facilitator at Southern Heights Elementary, located just south of Seattle. Nearly half of our student population qualifies as ELL (English Language Learner), and 80 percent of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Prior to my time in this role, I taught 3rd grade in the Highline School District, and spent three years living and teaching on the Navajo Nation in Four Corners New Mexico. I am committed to the idea that all students have a right to an excellent education, and intend to spend my career working for equal educational access and opportunities for students of all backgrounds. Thank you for your consideration of my projects. My students and I couldn't do it without you!
