I am writing this project in order to get a classroom rug that is big enough for all of my second-grade students. We come together as a class several times a day for morning meetings, social-emotional lessons, whole group lessons, mentor students, read alouds, collaborative projects, think pair shares, and group work. In fact, coming together to work as teams are my students' favorite parts of the day. Unfortunately, we currently do not have a rug in our classroom. This means that the place where we hold our group discussions is the bare tile floor. I want this rug to create a warm and inviting space in my classroom where students feel safe and are invited to participate in group discussions.
