My students are 4th and 5th graders and eager to learn, but need direction and experience in solving real-world problems. The time has come for students to take ownership of their learning and be able to apply it to situations they will come up against as they move into the 21st century as adults. Our school supports and fosters developing students who will be successful, but I want to prepare a generation of students who can solve real-world problems and think creatively in order to become the best in our ever changing world. In just the short amount of time since I have introduced Project-Based Learning to my students, they have embraced the concept and are so excited about taking responsibility for their learning and are on their way to becoming 21st century learners and soon to be 21st century productive adults.
