I have the honor of teaching 8th grade Science and Social Studies Inclusion this year! Northwest Middle School is a safe and warm environment for the students on the far west side of Chicago. Like many CPS schools, we have very few resources and struggle to keep providing the very best for our students. We have 540 students, 95% of whom are from low income families, 16% of whom are diverse learners, and 26% of whom have limited English. I specifically teach inclusive classes, which allows diverse learners to have Science and Social Studies with general education students. My students LOVE hands on projects, field trips, and anything they can engage in physically. Many students have never been to a museum or touched a microscope until they come into my classroom. It is my goal to offer as many different learning opportunities as possible. I am excited to make learning accessible for all of my students!
