My 2nd grade kiddos from Indiana attend a high-preforming charter school where academic achievement is at the forefront of everything we do in the classroom. However, we are publicly funded and supplies and resources are extremely limited within our school and community. The reality for many students is that basic back-to-school supplies are simply not available come September. My students face unimaginable challenges outside of our school walls, and we strive to create a safe harbor where students are encouraged to be hard-working, curious and self-motivated. All of my students can, and will, achieve their personal growth and academic goals this year, as we understand together that our voice is our power in 2nd grade.
