Most of my students never had the opportunity to work with ceramic clay before they walked into my classroom. So far this year we have created leaf dishes using the impressions of real leaves and colorful holiday ornaments. Students could not wait to take their ceramic projects home and share them with their families. Many have voiced their desire to create larger, more challenging ceramic projects. In order to do this, our supply of ceramic glazes and brushes need to be replenished. Glazing gives life and color to the finished ceramic piece. Similar to acrylic painting, it teachers students about color mixing, how to properly use a brush, and helps to enhance their concentration and fine motor skills.
