Flexible seating offers a versatile environment where students take ownership of their learning. A variety of choices for seating and movement are provided, and students are able to pick the option best suited to their own individual needs. The opportunity to move and be active during learning is critical for kindergarteners. It is both unrealistic and unfair to expect five-year-olds to sit in a traditional desk for 5-6 hours each day. Flexible seating provides an alternative so that students may have the opportunity to move about and be active children, while also achieving the necessary structure of a focused learning environment. As a result, students are able to be more engaged, better behaved, and more successful academically. It's a win-win situation!
