My Foundations of English I class needs a book like this one to help them learn to love reading. I'm afraid that these students may have never read a book that they actually liked! My goal this year is to introduce them to "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton and have them connect their lives to the themes of socioeconomic differences, peer pressure, and friendship seen in the story. My school district in North Carolina is extremely low on funds and won't let us buy many books, so asking for money to buy an entire class set is out of the question.
