My ELD class is for newcomer students. They can be from all over the world. For the most part, their first language is one other than English. It is difficult for them to write because their English is limited even though they know what they want to say in their first language. It would greatly benefit their writing process if they could look up what they wanted to say in a dictionary rather than waiting to ask me or hoping the word will come to them. Additionally, the colored paper is to help establish the flow in the classroom. Because this is some of my students first time in an actual classroom, they get overwhelmed with all the paper they have. Therefore, color coding their sheets will help them focus on the academics rather than the organizational aspect of the classroom.
