My students love hands-on labs and other activities, but have limited knowledge of how to use science materials or follow lab procedures. I like to demonstrate how to complete each step of a lab before having students attempt the steps independently. Students often have a hard time seeing what I am doing because space is limited around my demonstration table. Having a document camera would allow me to project what I am doing onto the white board, making demonstrations more visible for all students to see. This would increase student confidence when working with materials, and help them to successfully complete labs on their own.
