Due to COVID-19, my students are not able to share math manipulatives in our classroom. I also have several students learning from home that often do not have manipulatives at all. Math manipulatives are essential to student engagement and learning during our math block. Manipulatives provide hands-on experiences for students. Students are able to grasp concepts and explain their thinking using concrete objects. This project will help make each child having their own manipulatives possible. I will use these materials to create a hands-on learning toolbox for each student. Students will be able to keep their materials with them at their desk in their own individual toolbox. This will make it easy to sanitize the manipulatives often. In the event that we need to move to remote learning, the students will already have their kits which will make the transition easy.
