This carpet will help my students grow a community within the classroom by making space for them to communicate and learn from each other. Part of being a bilingual student is using conversational vocabulary to help build on their academic language. During a read aloud or a mini lesson, I have the students turn and talk to a buddy to share their thoughts and opinions. Not only is a cozy carpet helpful during literacy, but during individual practice as well. Some students can’t sit in a chair all day and work. They need options to keep them focused. Whether that be a yoga ball, the desks, or the carpet. My job is make sure I am supplying those individual needs to help them be successful. Thank you for helping make that happen!
