Our school is an urban, public elementary charter school dedicated to students with specific language-based learning disabilities. Approximately 85% of our students have IEP/504 plans and 100% receive free/reduced-price lunch. Our students are energetic, ready to learn, and excited, despite the difficulties that they face! Many of our students come to our school reading below grade level, and even believing that they are incapable of being readers. But that's not true! With our co-teaching classroom design, small-group instruction (6:1 student-to-teacher ratio), flexible grouping, and multi-sensory approach to teaching, they are capable, with more than enough tools by the end of the year, to be wonderful readers, learners, and young adults!
