I teach English in a small, inner-city, neighborhood school. It is a high poverty area, and 100% of our school receives free lunch and breakfast daily. My school serves a very diverse community; we have students that have immigrated from all around the world, and this year I have students who speak 8 different native languages! We serve kids born in the US along side students who have just arrived from Myanmar, Thailand, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Kenya and beyond. I have student's whose levels range from beginning readers to well above high school level. Despite what may seem like insurmountable obstacles, my students never give up. They are resilient, hardworking, and making great gains. Thank you for any support you may choose to give to help get my kids the supplies and books they so very much deserve.
