My students are motivated to become phenomenal scholars. Though my students are hungry for knowledge, they are disadvantaged by the school system they've been raised in. My students are mainly Hispanic or African American and have an average reading level of 6th-7th grade for a 9-12 grade high school. I struggle with getting students excited and connected to the content we learn about. Student attendance at my school is very poor, which also ties into the difficulty with connecting students' lives to the content.
