My goal is to create a classroom that is consistent with brain research and the needs of children in the 21st century. In a 21st century classroom, the environment needs to fit all students learning needs. Not all students learn sitting in rows, back to the chair, sitting perfectly still. With alternative seating, my classroom will be set up in a way where they can use tall tables if they want to stand, bean bags/pillows if they'd like to sit on the floor. Hokki Stools and balance balls will be used if they need to wiggle a bit while working. Mini couches will make our class a lot more comfortable if they want to have a seat and read. This environment also prepares them to make choices in life and guides them in building the responsibility! Through this process, they gain a better understanding of themselves as learners.
