After whole group instruction wraps up at the end of a lesson, students move on to workstations where they then practice the skills that they have been taught. My students truly enjoy this independent practice time. It teaches them not only the targeted literacy skill, but also teaches them independence, and how they can be accountable for their own learning in the classroom. I would like to provide them with plenty of different materials so that their learning time is fun and engaging. Students will be able to use the materials in a variety of ways to practice many literacy skills.
