One of the most difficult things to control in a 1st grade classroom is the amount of movement that occurs because their little bodies are constantly in motion. My students come to school full of life and ready to learn! In my journey as a teacher, I have found that it is easier to give them permission to move and the tools to make movement work in my classroom. Just like adults they get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day! The couch will be a great addition to my classroom reading area because my students need comfy seating options to enhance student engagement. Studies have shown that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable. I love that with the portable lap desks they can be working on their chromebooks during any time of the day or working on station work from anywhere in the classroom. The bean bag chairs are one of my favorite items because I so often see children that want to get on bean bags already. The comfy floor seats and the beanbag chair will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. This is a fun and organized way to make that happen. The floor seat will also be nice because this gives them a chance to move around to an area of their choosing. I plan to use the wobble chairs and cushions during reading rotations. These will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably, as well as get their wiggles out. By providing choices for my students this will help reduce the amount of behavior problems that can happen in the classroom. Thank you so much for making this happen for my students. I cannot wait to see all of the learning and enthrallment that will happen this year!
