Flexible seating in my first grade classroom will allow my students to take responsibility, increase focusing, and be more autonomous. Bean bag chairs, stability balls, and Wobble stools will join our scoop chairs, stools, and seat cushions to allow for more choices in our current flexible seating environment. Flexible seating has many benefits, including student choice, increased physical health with movement, student comfort, and a sense of community built through increased collaboration. Flexible seating allows students to quickly and easily work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class about their learning - without moving mountains of heavy desks to establish eye contact.
