Celebration of accomplishments is huge for my students. I make a daily effort to celebrate and encourage my students. I recognize their hard work and efforts to other students, teachers, administration, and the families of my students, phone calls, emails, verbal praise, and hand written notes. I never give up on them. I choose my words carefully to inspire, because my students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Some of them facing issues in which they should never have to experience. My students come to me discouraged about learning, and they feel stigma because they often do not feel good enough in the classroom, and they do not feel smart. I teach Math and Reading RTI Intervention at the high school level. I start with basic skills of word decoding and adding integers. As skills become solid to my students we move on. My students achieve a sense of accomplishment as we read a novel every semester.
