Having extra iPads would allow students to take their AR quizzes and complete reading intervention activities. It would also ensure that every student would get fair use of the technology. Dividing this time on two unreliable computers for up to 25 students is difficult and time is limited.
With iPads students can read books on or have books read to them which helps my struggling and non readers become more successful in reading. In addition I am requesting cases for the iPads as little ones aren’t always gentle with them, I am also requesting an organizer to be used as a safe place to store the iPads.
I will set up a reading/listening center with them and will also use them for math. These centers will go on daily as well as interventions.
The last thing we need is an easel. The easel will be used daily for our morning meetings and modeled lessons. It will also be great to hold our weekly big books to read together as a class. It will also be used during writer’s workshop to model writing skills and story writing.
All of these tools will improve the quality of the classroom community by motivating students and instilling a love for reading and writing.
