For this project, we chose to work to fund our classroom with 14 mini-keyboards. Much of the time, the first question asked during class is, "Are we going to play the piano today?" With this project, we finally have the hope of accomplishing that milestone! Giving students novel experiences that cater to their wants and educational needs is of the utmost importance in our classroom, and keyboards would help this effort tremendously. Currently, we have only one working piano in the room, and through this project we would be able to purchase small keyboards that would be both easily accessible for the class and would not interfere with the limited storage situation in our space. This effort would help to shape our students' interest in music to a much higher degree than the standard elementary school classroom, with the hopes of extending their spark and love for music education into middle school and beyond. Musicianship is a skill that extends far beyond the classroom, and our students deserve that advantage.
