  • Feeding Our Community-Edible School Garden

    Funded Dec 31, 2017

Thank you so much for making my student gardening project a reality! As a result of your generosity we were able to fill four garden boxes with soil. My students have been so excited about planting and eventually eating their on food. Each morning my students are so excited to water the plants and take care of their garden. After the food has grown students will be able to learn about different healthy recipes they can cook with the food that they have grown. Thank you again for helping to create such a fulfilling experience for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Killins

  • Making Character Come to Life!

    Funded Oct 9, 2017

Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom. As a result of your donation one hundred second grade students were able to celebrate mastering their character skills with fun activities.

Your donations helped my students enjoy and become invested in their character development. Students practiced the sharing skill by working together to divide one of the cookies I was able to purchase with your donation evenly between a group of 4. Students worked on team work and communication by helping their partner sort different colored fruit snacks while their partner was blindfolded.

All students deserve to have rich and joyful experiences at school. Because of your donation I was able to make this a reality for my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Killins

  • Making Character Come To Life

    Funded Aug 4, 2015

Thank you so much for donating to our class project! These snacks added a special level of magic to our class celebration. Each Wednesday scholars get to celebrate their weekly character achievements with an aligned read aloud, fun craft, and a snack that is also linked to the weekly character focus. One week the character focus was, "I'm happy when my friends get what they need." That week we used the gummy bears, we told the students that there wasn't enough snack for all of the classrooms, and we asked them if anyone would give up their snack so the other classrooms would have enough. All of the students volunteered to give up their gummy bear! We then gave each student two gummy bears as a reward for being so kind! Your donations have really made an impact on our students.

Our students are always so excited to see the new snack they have each week. They were especially surprised by the lime chips since non of them had tried them before.

We will keep using these snacks for the rest of the year! Thank you again for your contribution!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Killins

  • A Lovely, Literary Christmas!

    Funded Dec 8, 2014

I wish you could have been in our classroom on "Class Christmas", where we sang songs, drank cocoa, made Christmas necklaces, and said goodbye for the holidays. The most special moments were when the kids walked in and saw presents bulging from under the Christmas tree, and the end of the day when we got to open our gifts and read our favorite class book, each child with their own copy in hand. Your contribution to our classroom left my kids feeling loved, special, and strengthened their connection with and love of reading. Thank you for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Killins

This classroom project was brought to life by LA Sprout Fund and 3 other donors.
"KIPPsters, what do we do at school?" "Work hard, be nice, listen and think." This is how we start each day at KIPP Leadership Primary, and my students work hard to live out these simple yet profound values. My class of 30 boys and girls are sweet, funny, sensitive and resilient. They work hard to become excellent readers, writers, and mathematicians and have come to enjoy the intrinsic reward of learning new skills.
