Every morning when my students enter my classroom they are given some time for creativity and exploration through the use of Brain Bins. These bins are filled with various toys and manipulative that the students use to build, engineer, and get their brains warmed up for the day. Kids need time everyday to socialize and use their imagination. In today's world, these things are taken away from our students because of standardized testing and the over use of technology. I've made a promise to my students that every day this year they will be given some time in my room to freely socialize with their peers and be able to opening use their creative skills and imagination. The manipulative that I have chosen from these projects will allow students the opportunity to use their minds in a different way than they're used to with typical school tasks. They will learn through working together, trial and error, and the idea that it is okay to make mistakes as long as you use them to grow.
