These materials and supplies will allow my kindergartners to explore through hands-on learning, ultimately developing their social-emotional skills and mastery of academic content. The bean bags will be used in our library area for children to have a comfortable area to explore books and develop their literacy skills. The sand and water kits will allow children to develop their sensory and motor skills by exploring new materials and developing the understanding of properties of matter. The magnetic tiles will allow children to build and create, furthering their creativity and fine motor skills. The large blocks will be used during center time so the children can collaborate and build with large objects.
Because many of my students are raised in a high-trauma community and struggle with social-emotional and interpersonal development, these materials and supplies will allow for my students to collaborate towards a common goal, experience academic content through hands-on materials, and develop the literacy skills to carry them forward in their educational careers. Supporting my project will allow my 25 students to explore the world around them and get excited about school and their education.
