This is my first year teaching full time. I am transitioning from the corporate world in an Engineering role. This fall semester I have the pleasure of teaching 1st, 4th, 6th, and 7th grade. My elementary scholars will be learning Computer Science Fundamentals through Code.org. My middle school scholars will be learning Computer Science for Innovators and Makers through Project Lead the Way. We will start out this semester in the virtual environment. I will use the ring light to ensure I have proper lighting to virtually instruct using Zoom. I will use the document camera to show my middle school students how to wire input and outputs to their micro:bits and how the inputs and outputs cause the micro:bit to behave. In the virtual environment the students will only get to use an emulator and won't get the true hands on experience. I plan to use material from IF/THEN to tie in female examples of scientists in the engineering and computer science fields. The posters on Amazon and the IF/THEN website will be used to decorate my classroom to make a career connection with coding and engineering. The Barbie dolls will also be used as decoration to showcase diversity and inclusion in STEM. The additional materials in the cart will be used for classroom organization and classroom management.
