My students are expected to read independently for about 35 minutes a day. If the students had an in class library to recommend and discuss books with their classmates, they will be much more likely to continue reading at a good pace to keep up with their peers. Projects are also expected to be completed after each book is read. Projects could be such a great outlet for students creativity, and with more materials to complete these projects they could show off their hard work with pride. With this library, markers and crayons we can create a small community of readers who can share ideas, opinions and projects with one another and help each other to grow.
