Imagine the excitement on our student's faces when they walk into a colorful, print rich room! A print rich environment contains different texts that use print for various purposes. It allows students to extend their knowledge about how letters, words, symbols and sentences work. By creating an environment rich in print, we help children understand that symbols and text help us communicate with each other. The ability to teach this is extremely important when working with communicatively delayed students such as ours. As adults we know that children gain early literacy skills by interacting with the world around them. Making our classroom interactive and rich print will allow our students the opportunity to grow and be the best they can be!
