Imagine being stuck in the same hard chair everyday. You fidget and your bottom gets sore and you want to stretch your legs... and you can't; you are glued to that seat. Well with your help our students can have the FREEDOM to sit in a seat that makes them feel comfortable and allows them to learn and work in a way that they be focused. Many of our kids come from homes where they share everything and have no space to call their own. My hope is to create a classroom environment that allows them to be excited to learn! Every day our students sit for up to two hours in the same spot and with such little space to call their own. The yoga pillows are comfortable and flexible spots that can be used every day all around the classroom to help students feel comfortable in their work time. The plastic stools are perfect for students who still want to be at their desk, but need something different. The balance balls are not only a huge hit with kids of all ages, but they allow for those with some extra energy to burn to have the flexibility to work and not be forced to "sit still". The big dorm chair can be moved to any spot that a child would like to work in and is great for kids who need a quiet area but still want to be comfortable. By just giving our students different spots to sit in the room you are not only helping them stay focused on working (rather than focused on how uncomfortable they are) you are also helping create a more engaged and focused classroom for low income students!
