Due to a lack of funding, our ability to purchase materials has been cut tremendously. We are trying to build up our arts program to offer more in depth arts. These materials are intended to be used for Middle School Art, High School Art, Printmaking and Painting classes. In particular ceramics hand building and paper mache sculpture will be planned for our middle school students who benefit from the tactility and collaboration of this medium. Water based spray paint and watercolor paper will be used in the painting and printmaking classes for stencil making and paint effects. Cutting tools will be useful for building fine motor skills and detail in collage, paper, and stencil arts. These materials would allow the students to improve their art-making techniques while expanding their portfolios.
Our arts program has become a safe space to build school culture and empower student choice and identity building for our struggling inner city youth. Our students have benefited greatly by the exposure to the arts which is student-centered and highly differentiated. It has also served as a positive path to graduation and career building.
Your support is greatly appreciated in bringing quality materials for our students to explore.
